I was tasked with improving sales for a little-known detergent, Xtra, barely shipping 30,000 boxes. While others crunched numbers in boardrooms, I went to the river. There, I met a woman scrubbing clothes by hand, frustrated by how the detergent didn’t “rub” properly into the fabric.

Her words became my strategy. I recommended a formula change and a simple but powerful message: “Rubs On Better.”

The result? Sales exploded from 30,000 to 1 million boxes. The brand was later acquired by Unilever—a testament to listening, innovating, and leveraging raw emotion to drive action.
